About Us

2019 marks the 55th anniversary of the Paul Webb Basketball Camp . . . over a half century of sportsmanship, excellence and basketball.

Each summer, Coach Paul Webb and his son, Eddie Webb, direct basketball camps for kids across Hampton Roads. The camps are the longest running basketball camps in Virginia.

The Kings of Summer Camps

Coach Paul Webb

Paul Webb’s start in the camp business began in 1965 while he was coach at Randolph-Macon College. His first camp was held at the college and drew 36 young basketball campers. Webb’s camps now draw 1,000 to 1,500 each year. Some of his former campers include NBA stars Moses Malone, Alonzo Mourning, Mark West, Ralph Sampson, Bryant Stith, J.R. Reid, Grant Hill and other NBA and college stars.

Coach Webb continued his camps in Hampton Roads after stepping down as head coach at Old Dominion University in 1985. He wanted kids to have more choices in the summer. Now his camps are among the most popular in the region.

It’s his record of achievement and his dedication to great basketball and sportsmanship that make the Paul Webb Basketball Camp Hampton Roads’ #1 Basketball Camp.

In 10 years as head coach at ODU, Paul Webb’s record is impressive, including:

Winning 196 games

Taking ODU from Division II to Division I

Making four trips to the NCAA tournament and five trips to the NIT tournament

Becoming the second all-time winningest college basketball coach in Virginia

Coaching teams that upset Georgetown, Syracuse, University of Virginia (twice!), Clemson and even number one ranked DePaul

Coach Eddie Webb

Coach Eddie Webb has been the President of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame since 1995. Under his direction, the Hall of Fame has gained tremendous distinction across the state by honoring legendary athletes such as Ralph Sampson, Nancy Lieberman-Cline, Alonzo Mourning, Arthur Ashe, Jr. and many others.

Eddie Webb graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and from Old Dominion University with a master’s degree in education. After graduating, he spent 20 years coaching college basketball at:

Randolph-Macon College – 2 years

University of Wyoming – 1 year

Old Dominion University – 7 years

Virginia Commonwealth University – 10 years

But most importantly, he is one of the Kings of Summer Camps—directing summer camps with Coach Paul Webb for over 45 years.
